Nominator's project description

Professor Gershoni is a pioneer in the physics of low-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures. He and his group have achieved many landmark results including the first quantitative explanation of single and multi-exciton emission from semiconductor artificial atoms, the demonstration of on-demand sources of entangled photon pairs and the use of light to manipulate the spin of individual electrons. Most recently, they demonstrated on-demand sources of more than ten entangled photons at world-record rates. During his stay in Germany, Professor Gershoni will work on the use of highly entangled multi-photon states for measurement-based quantum communication.
